Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's decrees will play an important role in opening of a new phase of development of Azerbaijani press, "Bakı xeber" editor-in-chief, Tereggi medla winner Aydin Guliyev told Trend.
"Every decree on the press, signed by the president in recent days, is very important. It is very important to award journalists, provide the press with a one-time assistance and allocate funds to improve housing conditions for journalists," Guliyev said.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed decrees on "Awarding media representatives with honorary titels", "Providing media outlets with a one-time financial assistance", "Awarding media representatives with "Tereggi" medal" and "Measures to strengthen social protection of media representatives" on the eve of the 135-th anniversary of the National Press.
Guliyev said that the signed decrees promote improvement of journalists' professionalism. "The major role of these decrees is to facilitate and mitigate the two issues that have bothered us. One of these issues is to improve logistics and social status of journalists and editors. The second one is to increase professionalism of journalists. These decrees will play an important role in the issue of increased competition between journalists, " he said.
"Xalq cebhesi" (Popular Front) editor-in-chief was awarded with Tereggi medal upon the presidential decree Elchin Mirzabayli also expressed his gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev.
"President Ilham Aliyev's decrees prove that the Azerbaijani government treats the press from a single point of view, regardless of its views and range of activities. It is interested in the development of media based on national traditions," Mirzabayli said.
Mirzabayli said that a process associated with the development of Azerbaijani press has begun long ago.
"According to a specific concept, a series of measures have been implemented for a long time. This is reflected both in the President's decree, concerning the adoption of the concept of development of the Azerbaijani press, and the decree of the establishment of the State Media Support Fund. The decrees signed in connection with the 135-th anniversary of the Azerbaijani press are quite important steps that serve the development of the press. This is an important message for both the Azerbaijani society, and media outlets. I think that the Azerbaijani press will properly regard these letters, these appeals of the state and will make more serious efforts for the development of our press based on national traditions ", Mirzabayli said.
Olaylar newspaper editor-in-chief Yunus Oguz was awarded with the honorary title "Honored Figure of Culture" upon the presidential decree. He said that the president always takes care of the press.
"The president always pays attention to the press. He always helps it. As you know the president signed a decree to resolve the housing problems of journalists. It deals with the fact that the state takes care of the media and is always in the spotlight of the president. We can only express our gratitude for it. I believe that after these events, relations between journalists, press and the state will intensify, " Oguz said.
