Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova will attend an international regional conference to be held Aug. 24-25 in the Philippines.
The conference will be organized by the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) and the Ombudsman of the Philippines with the Asian Development Bank's financial support within the Regional Environmental Technical Assistance (RETA) project, aimed at strengthening the activities of the founder members of the Association, the Ombudsman's Office told Trend Aug.11.
The conference, which will discuss the experiences of national human rights institutions of Asian countries will be attended by ombudsmen of Japan, China, Thailand, Malaysia, India, South Korea and other countries, as well as representatives of civil society.
Participants will discuss principles of good practice of ombudsman institute as independence, accountability, competence and effectiveness, and will accept offers prepared under these rules in the conference, held recently in Malaysia.
Elmira Suleymanova will address at the conference with a speech about the activities and experience of the Azerbaijani ombudsman.
