Azerbaijan develops a package of proposals to strengthen the economic base of media, Azerbaijani Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov said at the council's board meeting.
The discussions on strengthening the economic base of the media, expansion and development of the advertising market also considered the situation in the country in this area and similar models in other countries, Amashov added.
"The purpose is to develop a package of proposals to strengthen the economic base of the country's independent media for a certain period of time. There must be dealt with tariffs and also reflect the tax benefits," Amashov said.
According to him, the council already has a study on foreign practice.
"The council held numerous consultations with local experts. Participants of the round table to be held in the coming days will be reported about this," Amashov added.
Speakers at the meeting expressed their proposals to expand the advertising base. It was decided to prepare a final document on proposals to be forwarded to the relevant authorities.
