Azerbaijan and Mexico are expected to sign a protocol of intent on Cooperation in the sphere of youth policy.

Azerbaijani Deputy Youth and Sport Minister Intigam Babayev and Mexican Youth Institute general director Enriquez Hernendez met in the framework of the World Youth Conference. The sides discussed signing of the protocol of intent between Azerbaijan and Mexico on cooperation in the sphere of youth policy and future directions of cooperation, the ministry reported.

The World Youth Conference was held Aug. 23 in the Mexican Leone in the Year of Youth, announced by UN from Aug.12, 2010 till Aug.12, 2011.

At the plenary session of the conference, Babayev spoke about the state support on the issues on ever-increasing role of Azerbaijani youth in public life, reducing unemployment, attracting young people to education and encouraging the participation of youth and youth organizations in international cooperation, as well as on progress in the field of universal education.

The main objective of the World Youth Conference - thanks to the joint discussion between governments, youth organizations and NGOs - is to identify priorities in the sphere of youth policy and strengthen ties between the actors in this sphere, which will contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG), defined on an international level.
