A Military Serious Crimes Court sentenced three Azerbaijani servicemen Friday to a total of nearly 40 years in jail for crimes including high treason and sexual assault.
Sergeant Mais Chiragov was sent down for 13 years while servicemen Novruz Mammadov and Kazim Mammadov were each sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment.
The men were charged under Article 274 (high treason) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code. The individuals were found guilty of cooperating with the Armenian intelligence services.
The perpetrators were also found guilty of committing sexual assaults against fellow soldiers.
