Education Minister: AIU's students will be transferred to private colleges

Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 4 / Trend M.Aliyev /

Students studying at the Azerbaijani International University (AIU) on the legal grounds will be transferred to appropriate private universities since Sept.15, Education Minister Misir Mardanov told journalists today.

"We are not responsible for the students illegally studying at the AIU," Mardanov said.

The minister said the university's most teachers have also operated in other higher education institutions, thus they will not have problems with placement.

The IUA passed state registration in 1997 and the education ministry issued the university a license in 1998. In 1999 the university received a license for six years and in 2005 - five years.

This year, the ministry refused to renew the university's license due to serious shortcomings in the activities.
