The Baku Entertainment Center hosted the 15th anniversary of TREND International News Agency, which was attended by government officials, diplomats, MPs, media representatives and others.
A documentary about TREND News Agency's activities was demonstrated at the event.
Head of the Presidential Administration's Social and Political Department Ali Hasanov said in his speech that since its establishment TREND Agency strengthened its position not only in the media area in Azerbaijan, but was able to take its rightful place in the transnational international news area.
"In the full sense of the word, journalism, as the national leader Heydar Aliyev said, is an activity that requires heroism, a special talent and effort. Heydar Aliyev used to say that journalism is not just a job, not just an activity, but also a selfless human labor," he said.
According to Hasanov, to be a good journalist should serve the common goals. "Every journalist should properly understand the purpose and intent of his work and properly appreciate it. In this sense, I believe that TREND News Agency since its establishment in 1995 until now has distinguished itself with the correct definition of its tasks and their achievement," Hasanov said. He stressed that the definition of tasks is not just the key to success. "To achieve success in every profession, in every work and activity one should be familiar with the skills of professional activity, should be professional in his/her job. I think that in this sense, the majority of journalists working in TREND News Agency are really the journalists who have already gained experience of professional journalist, and acquired necessary journalistic skills," Hasanov noted.
He said that several international news agencies, television and radio, print media outlets cooperate with TREND and post news and photos provided by the agency on their pages. "If TREND had not been a professional agency, its articles would not be so widely spread in the international virtual media.

I can openly say that these news agencies and television channels gave preference to establish their offices because of lack of the media outlets in Azerbaijan, meeting these requirements and journalistic professionalism. Today, the international news centers have supporters from Azerbaijan, consisting of national organizations. They cooperate with them," the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration department head said.
The third quality, attracting the attention to TREND News Agency's activity, is an ability to enjoy the results of their work, Ali Hasanov said.
"The results of any activity are marked by its significance and value in the community. If this or any other activity does not benefit people, society, or any layer of society as a whole, does not enrich human life, then there is no sense to deal with this activity. In this sense, I think that the staff of TREND News Agency are able to enjoy the results of their labor.
They enjoy that this activity has common and clear result satisfying the people's needs in information. It spreads the reality of any country or nation all over the world to familiarize with the ongoing development worldwide, " Hasanov said.
"Today, one can congratulate TREND as the agency, having its inherent values, skill and ability to represent Azerbaijan and the entire information family of Azerbaijan not only in the country but all over the world, taking into account these three criteria," he said.
Hasanov awarded the staff of TREND news agency with diplomas for long-term and successful activity.
The event was accompanied by a concert program with participation of Azerbaijani famous singers.
