Nazim Ibrahimov said on Thursday in his speech at the World Turkic forum organized by the Turkish-Asian Center for Strategic Studies (TASAM) on the topic of Turkic Council, Turkic diaspora and socio-economic cooperation".
"Strengthening the unity and solidarity amongst the Turkic peoples is one of the biggest challenges facing us. Today, new prospects are opened for the Turkic world. Now, the Turkic-speaking countries have the opportunity to influence the global socio-political and economic processes. Many large-scale trans-regional projects today are carried out precisely at the participation of the Turkic-speaking countries. The unity of the Turkic world is very important to properly evaluate these opportunities and use them for the benefit of the common interests of our peoples," said Ibrahimov, the State Committee for Diaspora released information.
The forum is attended by representatives of Turkic world and Turkic diasporas from 60 countries.
According to Ibrahimov, after regaining independence, Azerbaijan has become a very active participant in international activities related to the Turkic world. At the same time, often Azerbaijan acted as the initiator and organizer of such events. According to Ibrahimov, Azerbaijan took an active part in the summit of Turkic states and the congresses of friendship, brotherhood and cooperation of Turkic states and societies, and other important events. According to him, one of the most important achievements over recent years are the steps taken to promote cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Turkish diasporas.
According to Ibrahimov, Azerbaijani diaspora is working closely with other Turkic diasporas around the world. "Guided by the words of the great leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev "one nation - two states", we continue to work on the basis of the principle "one nation can not have multiple diasporas, we must have united diaspora," said Ibrahimov.
