The Azerbaijani Presidential Science Development Fund plans to announce a second science project competition in December.

"The amount awarded by the fund will depend on the budget allocated to the institution for 2011, but in any case it will be no less than the 2010 budget," the fund told Trend.

The fund allocated 6.1 million manat for the first competition on June 30 to fund research programs, projects and other scientific measures.

The fund has also decided to conduct the competition twice per year.

Projects submitted within the first competition are now being reviewed by independent experts. Scientific and public discussions are also continuing on the fund's website about the proposals, which have already passed technical expertise.

"The results of the first competition will be announced step-by-step starting in November," the fund said.

Some 199 projects were presented during the first competition. Seventy-five relate to the physical and mathematical and technical sciences, 11 to geosciences, 49 to biology and medicine, 15 to chemical sciences, and 49 to the humanities and social sciences.
