Azerbaijani committee: Islamic countries must cooperate on women's issues

There is a great need for cooperation on women's issues among Islamic countries, Azerbaijani State Family, Women and Children Committee Chairperson Hijran Huseynova said at a round-table meeting on, "Women in Islam: Achievements and Challenges," in Baku on Nov. 11.

There is a great need for cooperation on women's issues among Islamic countries, Azerbaijani State Family, Women and Children Committee Chairperson Hijran Huseynova said at a round-table meeting on, "Women in Islam: Achievements and Challenges," in Baku on Nov. 11.

Kuwaiti Women's Affairs Committee Chairperson Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahd Al-Salim Al-Sabah attended the round-table.

"Azerbaijan and Kuwait pay attention to the issues of family, women and children at the state level," Huseynova said.

Al-Sabah also lauded the role of Azerbaijani women in the country's socio-political life.

"An Azerbaijani women is actively involved in the social and political life of her country," Al-Sabah said in an interview with Trend.

She also noted that Kuwaiti women also actively participate in public life.

"There are four female MPs in Kuwait's parliament. Four more female candidates are expected to participate in the next elections," Al-Sabah said.
