Trend becomes GUAM's official partner in Azerbaijan
Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM and the Azerbaijani Trend International News Agency have signed a declaration on cooperation. The document was signed by Trend Director General Ilgar Huseynov and GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili.
According to the document, GUAM gives Trend a status of official media partner in Azerbaijan. The parties will focus their efforts on keeping the region's citizens informed of the activities of GUAM. The declaration envisages cooperation in the field of operational information, materials and events.
GUAM was established by post-Soviet countries, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in 1997 during the EU presidential summit in Strasbourg. A decision was made to announce GUAM as an international organization and give it a new name, the "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM," at the organization's first summit in Kiev in 2006. The organization's secretariat functions in Kiev.
Founded in 1995 as a private media outlet, Trend Agency is a leading news provider in the Caucasus and Caspian region.
