Members of the International Observatory of Lawyers Anna Solelyak, Natasha Ivanovic and Nathalie Muller will visit Gldani Prison No. 8 today together with Georgian Bar Association Chairman Zaza Khatiashvili. The delegations will become familiar with the general situation in the prison, lawyer visiting procedures, and meet with prisoners.
Upon the Georgian Bar Association's invitation, the delegation will examine the legal status of lawyers in Georgia, meet with lawyers who have been made victims of illegal persecution, uncover any inhumane attitude toward lawyers during their professional activity, and meet with non-governmental human rights organizations during their three-day visit.
Meetings are also scheduled with the French Embassy in Tbilisi and the representative office of the EU. The mission will study lawyer rights violations and prepare a final report.
