A scientific and practical conference "Justice Khojaly" will be held in St. Petersburg on Feb. 25 with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia and the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Saint Petersburg.

A scientific and practical conference "Justice Khojaly" will be held in St. Petersburg on Feb. 25 with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Russia and the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Saint Petersburg.

The conference, which will be held with the participation of the city public, a number of university professors, and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Azerbaijani students and media representatives will inform about the most bloody tragedy of the twentieth century - the Khojaly genocide.

The event will hold a presentation of the book of famous Russian writer Professor Yuri Pompeyev, "Karabakh Diary," written on the basis of personal recollection. There will also be photo exhibition showing the massacre committed in Khojaly and a presentation of a documentary film about the tragedy. The event participants will receive an informational book entitled "The Truth about Karabakh," prepared by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

The Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. More than 600 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. Eight families were annihilated, 130 children lost one parent, and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.

International information and propaganda campaign "Justice for Khojaly" was established on May 8, 2008, upon the initiative of the General Coordinator of the OIC Youth Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, Vice President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.
