Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.23 / Trend, M. Aliyev /

Azerbaijani territories are occupied and the country's army is not in the barracks, but rather in the trenches, ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Deputy Executive Secretary, MP Mubariz Gurbanli said, while expressing his attitude toward a recent incident at a military unit that resulted in the death of seven soldiers.

He said there is a difference between soldiers serving in barracks and soldiers in trenches.

Gurbanli stressed that an investigation group created in connection with the incident will report to the Azerbaijani supreme commander on the results of the investigation.

"Such incidents can happen in any country," he said.

According to Gurbanli, great successes have been achieved in the military in Azerbaijan in recent years. President Ilham Aliyev takes various measures to strengthen discipline in the army, he said.

"The dismissal of the commander of the corps is an example," Gurbanli said.

An incident took place at a military unit at 9:40 a.m. on Feb. 20, as a result of which seven soldiers were killed.
