Civilians may acquire aircrafts in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku, March 16 / Trend M.Aliyev /
Azerbaijan will soon approve rules for using airspace that will allow civilians to buy aircrafts, Azerbaijani State Civil Aviation Administration Chief Arif Mammadov told journalists.
"The existing law 'On Aviation' does not provide the right to civilians to use general aviation. But given the demand, the administration is carrying out relevant work in this area," Mammadov said.
He added the proximity and accessibility of airports and airfields will be taken into account.
Mammadov stressed that civilians would have to have the ability to park their planes at airports, and stringent requirements would have to be drawn up.
He said the administration has already received proposals on the opening of private schools for pilots, but the issue can only be discussed after the rules on general aviation use are compiled.
Mammadov said Karabakh is regarded as the closed air gap in Azerbaijan.
