The number of the seismic centers should be increased to clarify the seismic situation in the whole territory of Azerbaijan, Head the Geodynamics and Seismology Department at the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences' (ANAS) Geology Institute Fakhreddin Gadirov told journalists today.
"Azerbaijan lacks seismic maps at an adequate level. We are working on it. Our main goal is to work on mapping of seismic safety, preparation of earthquake scenarios and conduct of geodynamic studies," Gadirov said.
Azerbaijan is located in a seismic zone measuring nine.
