Azerbaijan will resettle gazelles in historical habitats
Azerbaijan, Baku, April 21 / Trend M.Aliyev /
The resettlement of gazelles in the historical habitats will continue in June, the Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry reported.
Resettlement of gazelles within the project on "Protection, reintroduction and revitalization of the historic habitat of gazelles on the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic" will be continued after their fawns first appear.
The ministry receives information on the movements of gazelles, whose special collars have been installed with sensors that transmit signals about their location several times a day. These gazelles were resettled in the Gobustan-Jengichai State Reserve close to the Absheron peninsula on Feb.4.
Depending on the range of their activity the herds are provided with different quantity of food, dry grass and water, the ministry reported.
Farmers and herdsmen in the area pledged not to carry out actions that would endanger the lives of the gazelles.
