Azerbaijan, Baku, April 22 / Trend M. Aliyev /
The budget of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Azerbaijan amounted to 30 million manat in 2010, of which only 2 million manat were allocated by the Council of State Support to NGOs under the president, the chairman of the Council, MP Azay Guliyev said in an interview with the official website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.

He said that the funds, allocated by the Council, must be increased and reach 20-30 percent of the annual budget of all NGOs operating in the country. It will help to reduce their dependence on foreign countries.
Guliyev said that sometimes donor organizations, financing some NGOs, use them as a tool to justify their provocation against Azerbaijan and the pressure on it.

"But one can not say that if NGOs are sponsored from the outside, they work to harm the national interests of Azerbaijan," he said. "We always welcome the activities of donor organizations with good intentions".

Azerbaijan has registered about 2,500 NGOs.
