Based on the results of the biggest entrance examinations competition, the 2011/2012 academic year is expected to proceed to the fourth specialty group, Azerbaijani State Students Admission Commission (SSAC) Chair Maleyka Abbaszade told Trend.
She said entrants scored above 300 points on the last exams.

"Nearly 800 people scored over 500 points. Given that the limit for acceptance to the Azerbaijan Medical University is 800-1,000 seats, we would expect that the entrance score will be more than 500 points," Abbaszade said.

She said that the average score was 200-250 points.

"Testing exams are primarily held so that entrants were ready for the entrance exams both form a technological and psychological point of view. They [the scores] provide truthful information about the level of knowledge at the moment," Abbaszade said.

Statistical studies indicate that real knowledge, which entrants demonstrate on the test examinations in April and May, is repeated in the entrance exams.
"The correlation coefficient of test results and the actual exam is 0.8 percent. This is a very high figure. An entrant, realistically, having passed the test examination, can roughly know how many points he/she can score on the entrance exams," Abbaszade said.

Entrants using cribs and other options to get more points at the test exams, are deceiving themselves. "Entrants must define its place in the ranks," she said.
Less than half the entrants come to the test exams, she aid.
