Azerbaijani and French specialists have started joint nuclear research, Institute of Radiation Problems Director Adil Garibov told Trend.

Work is being done under a protocol of understanding signed between the French Areva and the institute on May 31.

Based on the document, the French and Azerbaijani specialists will conduct a joint program in the future to study nuclear technology innovations.

Also, France will take part in the training of young personnel for Azerbaijan in this sphere. "Studies will be regular and held in France, as Azerbaijan has no research nuclear installation and France has much

to offer in terms of research reactors. There are about 90 nuclear research reactors in this country. They are all built on the basis of modern technology. We must also take into account that, no accident occurred in nuclear reactors in France. Its experience is very important for Azerbaijan from this point of view," Garibov said.
