The term of arrest as a preventive measure against nine people, accused of holding the illegal rally in Baku on April 2 has been extended.

We failed to complete the investigation within two months because of the complexity of the criminal case and the need for numerous questionings, Deputy Prosecutor of Baku, the head of the investigative group Fazil Hasanaliyev told Trend.

Hasanaliyev said that taking this into account, the prosecutor sent the documents to extend the term of detention as a preventive measure against the accused group of individuals to the court a week ago.

"Having reviewed the submitted documents, the court considered extension of detention term of these people as important and took this decision," Hasanaliyev said.

Hasanaliyev said the investigative actions are under completion in respect of some accused.
A criminal case has been filed under Article 233 (organization of actions directed at violating the public order, as well as active participation in these actions) and Article 315 (use of force or resistance to police) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code on April 2.
About 14 people were involved in investigation as accused people. One of them - Elnur Mejidli was sentenced on May 13.

Two defendants - Ulvi Guliyev and Ahad Mammadov are charged under Art. 233 and 315.1 of the Penal Code, and the rest - under Art. 233 of the criminal code, the head of the investigative group said.
About 13 objects were damaged to the amount of 4,344 manat, police cars -8,744 manat, own cars - 1,915 manat as a result of the illegal rally. According to the forensic medical examination, about 24 police officers and one civilian were injured.
