Tehran hosts ECO ecology ministers' meeting

A meeting of Ecology Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will be held i n Tehran on June 9, the Head of Iran's Environmental Protection
Organization Mohammad- Javad Mohammadizadeh was quoted as saying by Iranian national news, iribnews.ir.
Mohammadizadeh said that the meeting of environmental deputy ministers of ECO member states will begin in Tehran on June 7. The meeting of ministers of ECO member states will take place on June 9.
Mohammadizadeh said that a document on regional cooperation in the field of environmental protection in ECO member states will be signed at the meeting.
" The ministers, who will participate in the meeting, will also meet with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad," Mohammadizadeh said .
The Organization for Economic Cooperation was founded in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey. In 1992, seven new countries - Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan joined the organization. The ECO has received observer status at the UN since 1993, and a year later with the OIC.
