The Azerbaijani Health Ministry has carried out preventive measures in connection with the intestinal infection in Europe, Disease Control Department head Viktor Gasimov told Trend.
Hospitals have enough infectious wards. If someone feels suspicious symptoms, he/she should immediately go to the clinic, he said.
There is no need for a WHO monitoring in Azerbaijan in connection with this infection, Gasimov said.
Regarding the likelihood of human infection from imported genetically modified or local fruits and vegetables, Gasimov said Azerbaijan imports very small amounts of fruits and vegetables.
Howeve,r people first need to observe good personal hygiene and carefully wash fruits and vegetables not to get one or other infection.
Cases of the intestinal infection that began to spread in Germany have already appeared in Austria, Britain, Denmark, France, Netherlands and Sweden. One case of this infection was revealed in Georgia yesterday.
