WHO Regional Office's 61st session kicks off in Baku

The 61st session of the WHO Regional Office for Europe began in Baku today. About 350 representatives from 53 countries will be attending the session, including health ministers and representatives of other state agencies.

The 61st session of the WHO Regional Office for Europe began in Baku today. About 350 representatives from 53 countries will be attending the session, including health ministers and representatives of other state agencies.

The session at the national and regional level will focus on five vital issues - combating infectious diseases, tuberculosis, AIDS, alcoholism, and resistance to antibiotics and their use.

On the first day of the session, WHO Regional Director for Europe Zsuzsanna Jakab, Azerbaijani Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Michel Kazatchkine will address the session.

The session will end on Sept. 15.
