An exhibition dedicated to modern art of Central Asia is opened in the gallery of London cultural fund Calvert-22, RIA Novosti reported.

The exhibition which is called "Between Heaven and Earth" represents the works of 20 artists from Central Asia, in particular from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as from Afghanistan and Mongolia.

Video, sculptures and paintings of the exhibition show the real life in these post-Soviet states.

"This is the first time when London hosts just Central Asian artists. They are popular in the West, because they could overcome the post-soviet complexes in art. They became famous at the very moment when they stopped trying to look European," said David Alliot, curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition will last till 13, November.
