Azerbaijani Deputy Health Minister Elsever Agayev has stated today that the drug-abuse situation in the country is unsatisfactory.
"Even if five drug addicts will be in Azerbaijan in total, it can not be considered satisfactory," he said.
Agayev said the drug addiction is a problem not only in Azerbaijan, but around the world. The number of drug addicts is less in Azerbaijan compared to other countries.
"The majority of registered drug addicts in Azerbaijan are the so-called injection drug users, which is the hardest group in this category. Of course, those who just one try drugs is considered as drug addicts," Agayev said.
He said not only with the Health Ministry, but other structures, as well as society, should struggle with this problem.
Based on the statistics, an increase is observed in the number of drug addicts. However, these figures do not reflect the real situation due to the fact that the list of registered persons will only include those who are treated and passed forced registration at the Health Ministry.
