The Interior Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov has received the new head of the OSCE Baku Office Koray Torgay.

Expressing satisfaction with the development of relations between the Interior Ministry and the OSCE, Usubov said that the Ministry has established close cooperation with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, Baku office of the organization and its other missions, located in several countries. In recent years, various activities organized by the OSCE have been attended by over 2,000 employees of the Ministry, the Interior Ministry's press service told Trend on Thursday.

Later, Usubov spoke about the criminal situation in the country, as well as reforms undertaken by law-enforcement agencies. According to Usubov, only over the last three years, 798 policemen have been punished for violations of the rights and freedoms of citizens.

Torgay said the co-operation of the OSCE Office in Baku with the Interior Ministry gives practical results in all spheres, this partnership is developing day by day. He said the OSCE is interested in improving police activities and will also continue its support in this process.
