It is necessary to strengthen international cooperation to combat cybercrime, head of the CE Baku office Konstantin Erokostopulos said at a conference of national experts on "Combating cybercrime as a major factor in ensuring comprehensive cyber-security" on Thursday.
The conference is organized the OSCE Baku office.
"The fight against cyber crime is a priority for the Council of Europe," he said. "There is the CE Convention on this topic. It is a compulsory document, and was ratified by 33 countries, including Azerbaijan. The Budapest Convention is also considered as one of the CE key documents."
He said that despite this, countries must develop their national legislation to combat cybercrime.
"The fight against cybercrime is aimed at preventing the spread of child pornography, sexual exploitation of children via the Internet and other crimes in this area," he said. "Internet providers must cooperate with law enforcement bodies. The U.S implements different projects."
He said that the Council of Europe helps countries who are members of the organization in the development of national legislation in this sphere. About six workshops will be held. Azerbaijan will organize training on cybercrime in December.
