Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast and his Russian counterpart Alexander Lukashevich have discussed ways to promote bilateral relations.

Mehmanparast held a meeting with Lukashevich in the Russian capital Moscow, where they called for closer cooperation in all spheres, PressTV reported with reference to IRNA.

The Iranian official highlighted Iran's stances on regional and international developments and criticized the West for adopting double-standard policies on the fundamental issues of democracy, human rights, and terrorism.

Mehmanparast and Lukashevich also discussed the latest regional developments and ways to expand bilateral ties and media cooperation.

Lukashevich noted that Iran and Russia respect the national interests and sovereignty of other countries and have similar positions on many political and international issues.

He also emphasized the significant role the media plays in efforts to expand bilateral relations.

Mehmanparast arrived in Moscow on Sunday at the head of a delegation of media officials to discuss ways to expand the two countries' media interactions.

The Iranian official also invited Lukashevich to pay a visit to Iran to follow up on the implementation of the agreements signed by the two countries.

Lukashevich welcomed the invitation and said Tehran and Moscow should utilize all their potential to strengthen their ties in all areas.
