Azerbaijani ombudswoman submits pardon request to head of state

Elmira Suleimanova, the Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan, has asked the head of state to issue an act of pardoning on the eve of December 10, the International Human Rights Day, and December 31, the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day.
The proposal is made with respect to a series of remarkable dates, including the 20th anniversary of restoration of Azerbaijan's independence, 10th anniversary of Azerbaijan's Council of Europe membership, and ratification of the European Human Rights Convention and the Constitutional Law "On Ombudsperson of the Azerbaijan Republic," the Ombudsperson Office's Press Service told Trend on Saturday.
A total of 339 prisoners have so far been pardoned in accordance with ombudsperson's requests.
