Ruins of ancient town discovered in Azerbaijan

The employees of the Azerbaijani Institute of Archeology and Ethnography under the National Academy of Sciences found the walls of a medieval fortress Shatel in Goranboy, head of the Ganja archaeological expedition of the Institute, doctor of historical sciences, Professor Arif Mammadov told Trend today.

The employees of the Azerbaijani Institute of Archeology and Ethnography under the National Academy of Sciences found the walls of a medieval fortress Shatel in Goranboy, head of the Ganja archaeological expedition of the Institute, doctor of historical sciences, Professor Arif Mammadov told Trend today.

He said that this fortress is a part of the medieval town of Shatel. The walls were found while laying the water pipeline. The walls were not damaged during these operations.
