As many as 22 foreigners have been held criminally liable for illicit drug trafficking in Azerbaijan in 2011.
Some 54 kg of drugs were confiscated from foreigners, a state committee for combating drugs and illicit drug trafficking told Trend on Tuesday.
Two are citizens of Iran, 13 Georgi, four Russia and one from Ukraine, Afghanistan and Turkey.
In 2011, the internal affairs bodies registered 2,036 crimes related to illegal drug trafficking, of which 817 were related to the drug trade.
Over 557 kilograms of narcotics were seized.
