Details of possible Football Euro-2020 in Georgia and Azerbaijan to be announced on UEFA Congress

Details of a possible European football championship in Georgia and Azerbaijan will be announced on March 21 at the UEFA Congress, which will be held in Istanbul, Minister of Youth and Sports Lado Vardzelashvili told reporters before the meeting of the Georgian government this evening.
Vardzelashvili noted that the congress will decide when the countries will be able to submit their nominations. Prior to this, the minister said, the parties will prepare for the presentation of their countries, after which they will be given the opportunity to work with various committees of UEFA and to seek the European Championship in 2020 to be held in Georgia and Azerbaijan.
"For this to happen, both countries must meet certain criteria, the infrastructure of stadiums, airports, hotels, etc. UEFA publishes the form of these criteria," Vardzelashvili said.
Vardzelashvili also noted that Georgia and Azerbaijan have agreed on 14 key points, which is reflected in the agreement and made commitments to implement them.
"One of the additional questions was an initiative of the Geargian President. The President proposed the Azerbaijani side to make a joint bid to represent Georgia and Azerbaijan as the host countries of the European championship," Vardzelashvili said.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, announced intentions of Georgia and Azerbaijan to host the European football championship speaking in the parliament of Azerbaijan in Baku on Wednesday.
