Baku holds ‘Eurovision-2012’ casting lots (UPDATE)

The casting of lots of 42 countries participating in the Eurovision-2012 song contest has been held in Baku today.

The casting of lots of 42 countries participating in the Eurovision-2012 song contest has been held in Baku today.

Azerbaijani representative Sabina Babayeva will perform under No 13 in the final of the contest.

About 18 countries will participate in the first semi-final to be held in Baku on May 22. They are: Montenegro, Iceland, Greece, Latvia, Albania, Romania, Switzerland, Belgium, Finland, Israel, San Marino, Cyprus, Denmark, Russia, Hungary, Austria, Moldova and Ireland.

About 18 countries will participate in the second semi-final to be held on May 24:
These are: Serbia, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Malta, Belarus, Portugal, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Sweden, Georgia, Turkey, Estonia, Slovakia, Norway, Bosnia Herzegovina and Lithuania.

Azerbaijan (winner of last year's contest), France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain will take part in the finals on May 26.

Italy - 10
Germany - 20
Great Britain - 1
France - 9

The 57th Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Baku Crystal Hall which has been under construction near the area of the State Flag. The Hall is an arena with an audience capacity of up to 23,000.

Approximately 16,000 people will be able to attend each of the three Eurovision Song Contest live shows in May. The event motto is 'Light your fire'.

It was noted that the lighting system which until now has not been used in European TV channels, will be used at the show. In addition, postcards, (videos that were shown prior to performances of member countries),will be different this year from previous ones. All 42 postcards will be devoted to Azerbaijan, which is hosting Eurovision-2012.
