The State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan hosted a meeting with the Turkish delegation, during which preparations for the event "Cultural Capital of the Turkic world" in 2013 were discussed.

Chairman of State Committee on Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov met on Thursday with mayor of Eskisehir Dr. Qadir Kochdemir who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

At the meeting the sides discussed issues related to the activities of the two structures in preparation for the event "Cultural Capital of the Turkic world" in 2013, negotiated the important steps taken to further strengthen ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey on a bilateral and multilateral formats, the press service of the State Committee told Trend on Thursday.

During the meeting the sides raised question about the activities of the Azerbaijani clubs in Eskisehir and noted their effective activities.

At the XXIX meeting of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of "TURKSOY" held in Astana in 2011, Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Ertugrul Gunay proposed to declare the city of Eskisehir "Cultural Capital of the Turkic world" in 2013. The proposal was unanimously accepted.

Chairman of the region's parliament Ahmed Yapydzhy second secretary at the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan Bahar Dogan attended a meeting with the Mayor of Eskisehir.
