IDEA Campaign and 350.org start cooperation

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 22 / Trend /

In the beginning of 2013 IDEA Campaign (http://ideacampaign.org/) announces a good news as IDEA will be cooperating with a global climate movement 350.org., IDEA said today.

350.org is a global people powered movement to solve climate crisis (http://www.350.org). The movement's online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries.

Since climate change is one of the activity directions of IDEA Campaign, the organizations decided to unite their efforts during the Global Power Shift campaign (www.globalpowershift.org).

Global Power Shift (GPS) will begin with an international climate leaders' summit of mostly young people in Istanbul, Turkey, June 10-17, 2013. The summit will be a chance for them to refine skills, create personal bonds and community, share a global vision for change, and strategize how to organize different actions and similar summits back home. In the months that follow, in country after country they will organize national or regional summits. These local Power Shifts will be a turning point for youth mobilization in the countries, in order to educate the public about the realities and solutions to climate change, implement solutions projects and campaigns, and begin to recruit for mass global action leading into 2014 and 2015.

IDEA representatives, as well as other climate activists from a variety of backgrounds will participate in the GPS from Azerbaijani side.

IDEA Campaign was launched by the Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva, on July 12, 2011. The campaign organizes dozens of national and international projects both independently and in cooperation with world-wide environmental organizations.
