British Airways and ‘Ali and Nino’ announce winner of the ‘Shakespeare, the UK and I’ contest

British Airways, together with bookstore chain, ‘Ali and Nino’, has announced the winner of the ‘Shakespeare, the UK and I’ contest. Dedicated to the birthday of the great English writer William Shakespeare, the competition ran from April 29, 2013 to May 03, 2013.

British Airways, together with bookstore chain, 'Ali and Nino', has announced the winner of the 'Shakespeare, the UK and I' contest. Dedicated to the birthday of the great English writer William Shakespeare, the competition ran from April 29, 2013 to May 03, 2013.

As part of the competition, contestants responded to questions relating to Shakespeare and qualifiers wrote short essays based on the 'Shakespeare, the UK and I' theme. This unique competition attracted people of all ages, with 300 participants taking part via the "Ali and Nino" Facebook page. 51 finalists went on to participate in the final round, with Narmina Ismailova emerging as the winner. At an award ceremony that took place at 28 Mall, Narmina was awarded two round trip World Traveller tickets to London on British Airways. Second runner-up Tatiana Ryaykenen and third runner up Ulker Rzaly received consolation prizes from 'Ali and Nino'.

"It's great to see such interest and enthusiasm from Azerbaijan for British literature and culture," said Paolo De Renzis commercial director for the Middle East and Central Asia. "We congratulate Narmina Ismayilova on winning the contest and we're sure she will have a wonderful time discovering London."

The 'Shakespeare, the UK and I' competition generated great interest and revealed many talented writers. The director of the Ali and Nino bookstore chain Nigar Kocharliaid said," This collaboration with British Airways was a great initiative and look forward to continued partnerships that give Azerbaijan a taste of Britain."
