Caucasian Muslims Office chairman: Inter-religious relations in Azerbaijan an example to the world
Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 30 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /
It is gratifying that today Sunnis and Shiites pray together and take part in religious ceremonies in Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade said today at the event of the Gazi Council held in connection with the beginning of the month Muharram.
"Today, tolerance, inter-religious relations and an attitude towards other religions in Azerbaijan serve as an example for the whole world," he said. "But there are forces willing to disrupt these relations. It is known that there is also interference from outside. These forces do not want the development of Azerbaijan. They do not want Azerbaijan's progress in religious or spiritual points of view."
These forces do not want stability in Azerbaijan and sometimes they try to cause a clash among aspects of Islam, he added.
"We will not allow them to do this," he said. "We all are united by Allah, the Holy Quran, the Prophet and the Imams."
