Baku, Azerbaijan, Jan.14
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev acted wisely by canceling the Tariff Council's decision, a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy Vahid Ahmadov told Trend Jan. 14.
Ahmadov said that around 60-70 million AZN could be transferred to the state budget by increasing the fuel price by 0.02 AZN.
"But this increase affects the growth of prices on food and other products both objectively and subjectively," he said. "The objective point is when the price rises in accordance with the cost of fuel in the cost of production. But some individuals subjectively use this by setting different prices. Therefore, it is possible that the prices could rise by 50-60 percent."
"It was a serious problem, which was widely discussed by people," he said.
"The president assessed everything correctly and canceled the decision of the Tariff Council," he said.
