Azerbaijan suspends import of poultry products from Iran (UPDATE)

Starting from June 22, Azerbaijan suspends the import of live poultry, poultry products, chicks, breeding eggs from Iran's Mazandaran province to Azerbaijan, Yolchu Khanveli, the head of the press service at the State Veterinary Service of Azerbaijan's Agriculture Ministry, told Trend June 22.
He said that due to the spread of the highly pathogenic avian influenza in chickens in Iran, the State Veterinary Service issued a corresponding decree.
Khanveli said Azerbaijan temporarily suspends the import of the mentioned products from June 22 in line with this decree and the official information from the World Organization for Animal Health, as well as taking into account the spread of the highly pathogenic avian influenza in chickens in the Mazandaran province and the need to protect from the epizootic diseases that can penetrate Azerbaijan's territory.
The relevant structures of Azerbaijan have been instructed to take all the necessary actions in this regard.
The relevant government structures and entrepreneurs were also informed of this decree, said Khanveli.
He also said that as of June 22, the epizootic situation in Azerbaijan is stable and the State Veterinary Service is taking the necessary actions to maintain this stability.
