The Baku Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of the former chairman of the International Bank of Azerbaijan Jahangir Hajiyev, Hajiyev's lawyer Agil Layijev told Trend Dec. 21.
Hajiyev made an appeal because the Narimanov District Court rejected an appeal concerning Hajiyev's detention under house arrest.
Hajiyev is charged under various articles of the Criminal Code, including the misappropriation, the abuse of office, fraud by causing huge damage, embezzlement through the abuse of office, bribing. According to the decision of the Narimanov court, a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of four months was chosen.
