The preliminary investigation of the criminal case regarding the football player of Azerbaijan's "Gabala" football club Javid Huseynov has ended Dec. 29, Baku's prosecutor's office reported Dec.29.
Earlier, a joint statement of the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan said that six people, including football player Javid Huseynov, have been detained under the probe into the beating and death of journalist Rasim Aliyev.
Rasim Aliyev, working for Ann.az website, was beaten and as a result, suffered multiple injuries on August 8. Aliyev died in a clinical medical center on August 9. Baku's prosecutor's office filed a criminal case under article 126.3 (intentional infliction of harm resulting in death of the injured person) and article 177.1 (theft) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
On December 22, the materials of the criminal case were sent to the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.
During the investigation, the materials of the criminal case regarding the football player Javid Huseynov were filed in a separate lawsuit under article 307.1 (not informing about known, prepared or committed heinous crimes) and article 307.2 (not promised covering up of a heinous crime) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
On Dec.29, the preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed.
After parties of the criminal process familiarize themselves with the materials of the case, it will be sent to court.
