Baku is fully ready to host the World Chess Olympiad, said Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, president of the World Chess Federation (FIDE).

He made the remarks in Baku May 24 at a ceremony dedicated to the start of the countdown to the 42nd World Chess Olympiad.

Ilyumzhinov said the representatives of the FIDE Presidential Board have recently visited Baku and came to a conclusion that Azerbaijan's capital is fully ready to hold the Chess Olympiad.

"The FIDE delegation got acquainted with the preparation for the competition and the accommodation conditions in the hotels," he said. "Despite there are still 100 days before the World Chess Olympiad, everything is ready, and the Olympiad can be conducted right now."

He said that it is possible to say that the Olympiad in Baku will go down in the history of the World Chess Olympiads.
