Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 20

By Elchin Mehdiyev – Trend:

The search for oilmen, who went missing as a result of the accident at the oil-gathering station in the Caspian Sea, continues, Khoshbakht Yusifzade, first vice president of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, told reporters in Baku Dec. 20.

Yusifzade noted that the search work has not yielded any results so far.

“We hope that the missing oilmen will be found in the coming days,” he said.

The first vice president added that the commission, created to investigate the accident’s reasons, continues its work and the public will be informed about the results.

The accident took place at about 05:00 (UTC/GMT+4), on Dec. 15, due to strong wind, which blew away a part of a flyover of a 150-meter long oil-gathering station. A board attached to the flyover and a booth on it were also blown away.

Five people, who were on duty at the gathering station, and five people, who were in the booth, are missing.

As of today, the body of Ilham Gafarov, who is one of the missing oilmen, was found at about 14:00 (UTC/GMT+4) on Dec. 15.
