Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 13
By Elchin Mehdiyev – Trend:
Budgetary financing of Azerbaijan’s cultural sphere in 2018 should be increased, Rafael Huseynov, chairman of the parliamentary committee for culture, said.
He was speaking Nov. 13 at a joint meeting of five parliamentary committees to discuss Azerbaijan’s draft state budget for 2018 and the next three years.
Huseynov added that the task of the state funding is not to save the cultural sphere from decay, but to further develop it.
“The fate of music schools, theaters, in particular those in regions, depends on these funds,” the MP noted. “There are more than 2,800 libraries, the activity of which should be restored, and we must turn them into cultural centers."
"Attention to cultural sphere should be strengthened and this needs to be taken into account in the budget,” Huseynov added.
