Azerbaijan can improve cultural sector as important part of economy – Italian envoy

Azerbaijani government and Azerbaijani people, who have wonderful traditions and outstanding historical heritage can improve the cultural sector as an important part of the country’s economy and gross national product, said the ambassador of Italy to Azerbaijan Augusto Massari.
He made the remarks at the presentation in the National Museum of Art, dedicated to present and future of Twinning project achievements in Azerbaijan.
“We are not interested in providing solutions, we just want to share the experience of cultural heritage and cultural management, that we implement in Italy and bring it here in Azerbaijan, working together with our Azerbaijani friends,” said Massari.
He added that current cultural projects are very important, because the culture is a part of the identity of the nation.
"We are trying to bring our experience here, implementing this project with the Italian specialists and the Italian government through the Ministry of Culture of Italy," he said.
The project is funded by the European Union in line with the 1999 Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, and within the 2004 EU-Azerbaijan European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan. The goal of the project is to support the process of reformation in Azerbaijan’s culture sector.
