Baku, Azerbaijan, May 17
Azerbaijan's State Security Service and State Customs Committee conducted a joint operation, during which about 500,000 counterfeit excise stamps were found and seized.
The fake excise stamps were smuggled into the country through the Azerbaijani-Georgian border for illegal production of counterfeit alcoholic beverages, said the Department of Public Relations of the State Security Service on May 17.
During the investigation, it was found that citizens of Azerbaijan Mehdiyev Intigam and Najafov Ruslan, who were engaged in illegal trafficking of fake excise stamps in the country, ordered them and organized their delivery into the country.
Both are held criminally responsible. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
