Many different types of medicines can be manufactured on the basis of Naftalan oil in Azerbaijan, said Vagif Abbasov, Director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of Azerbaijan’s National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Trend reports on April 23.
Speaking at the third Global Healthcare Travel Forum and the fifth Assembly of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) in Baku, he said that a medical product manufactured on the basis of Naftalan oil was reregistered by Azerbaijan’s Healthcare Ministry in 2014. In his words, at present, 15 types of medicines are produced on the basis of the Naftalan oil.
“I think that along with baths from Naftalan oil, medications derived from this oil should also be widely used,” he said. He added that in 2018, 35,000 tourists from 62 countries received treatment at Naftalan resort.
“This is only a small part of the existing potential,” he said. “It is necessary to take steps to bring the number of tourists arriving in Naftalan to 100,000.”
The third Global Healthcare Travel Forum and the fifth Assembly of the Global Healthcare Travel Council kicked off in Baku on April 23.
The event is held with the official support of the Azerbaijan State Agency for Tourism and is jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Health and Thermal Tourism Support Association and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan.
The event, which is held under the motto “Global Healthcare for All”, is attended by more than 100 foreign and local guests including the heads of national health tourism structures of 25 member countries of the GHTC Assembly, general managers of the healthcare sector, leading experts and influential scientists.
