A noticeable decrease in water content in the main waterways of Azerbaijan actualizes precise hydrological monitoring of rivers, therefore hydrological observations on the local rivers are automated, Deputy Head of the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Vasif Aliyev said, Trend reports.
According to Aliyev, modernization of the observation network will make it possible to timely and accurately assess the current situation, which in turn will be the basis for the correct planning of water consumption.
"To this end, the task was set to provide all hydrological stations of the Ministry with the advanced equipment as soon as possible. For the first time in the history of Azerbaijan’s hydrometeorology, the automation of hydrological stations is being carried out, and for this purpose, taking into account the geographical features, importance of the territory for various fields of the national economy, it’s planned to install 17 sets of equipment in certain areas," he noted.
