The rules of transcription in Russian and English of historical and geographical names in Azerbaijani have been prepared, Chairman of the Commission on Toponymy under the Parliament of Azerbaijan, MP, Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Isa Habibbayli told Trend.
According to Habibbayli, the rules have already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, and their approval is expected in the coming days.
Thereafter, new forms of writing geographic names will be adopted in accordance with these rules, added the MP.
Habibbayli also added that the order has been established for writing more than 4,000 names of places throughout the territory of Azerbaijan, among which there are names related to Karabakh.
